Detroit Pistons draftee Balsa Koprivica returns home, signs with KK Partizan in Serbia

Detroit Pistons second-round pick Balsa Koprivica returns home to sign a three-year deal with KK Partizan in Belgrade, Serbia, the ABA Leagueclub announced Monday.

The Pistons maintain his draft rights and the ability to sign him in the future.

Koprivica, the No. 57 overall pick of 60 in the 2021 NBA draft, played at Florida State for two seasons. The 7-foot-1, 240-pound Serbian center averaged 9.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks sophomore last season in 24 games (20 starts). He shot 59.9% from the field.

Koprivica, 21, was born in Belgrade, and his father, Slavisa, played on the 1992 Partizan team, winning the EuroLeague.

He played one year in high school at Montverde Academy (Florida) with Pistons' No. 1 pick Cade Cunningham. The Pistons also selected Isaiah Livers (No. 42) and Luka Garza (No. 52) in the second round.

Before the draft, the Pistons acquired the 57th pick from Charlotte in exchange for center Mason Plumlee and the No. 37 pick.
