Detroit Lions' Frank Ragnow (groin) active for season opener vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Frank Ragnow got his wish.

Ragnow, the Detroit Lions' Pro Bowl center, will start in today's season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles four days after leaving practice with a groin injury.

The Lions initially feared Ragnow would miss time because of the injury, but an MRI revealed the injury was not as serious as thought and Ragnow returned to practice Friday.

He was listed as questionable on the week's injury report.

The Lions still have injury issues on their offensive line. Right guard Halapoulivaati Vaitai will miss at least the first four games with a back injury, but Lions coach Dan Campbell said Friday, "It Frank’s able to go, then hey man, maybe the tides are turning here a little bit."

Logan Stenberg is expected to start at right guard in Vaitai's place.

For the Lions, Julian Okwara and Ifeatu Melifonwu are inactive after missing most of training camp with injuries, and backup offensive guard Tommy Kraemer was ruled out Friday with a back injury.

Rookies Chase Lucas, James Mitchell and Demetrius Taylor also are inactive for the Lions.
