None injured in bizarre fire at Broncos' Mile High Stadium

A fire consumed a large swath of seats in the Denver Broncos' Empower Field at Mile High on Thursday, and its cause remains unclear.

Denver residents noticed billowing black smoke emanating from the stadium in the early afternoon. Judging from photos released by the Denver Fire Department, which soon arrived to the scene, the flames engulfed many seats and a suite in the club level.

The stadium's Twitter account later announced the fire had been contained and the area in question had been quickly evacuated with no injuries sustained. The damage appeared to include half of two sections of seats, the suites near them and some retired numbers installed above.

Per DNVR's Andrew Mason, a Denver Fire Department spokesperson said the fire originated in the suite level before spreading to the club level, ultimately covering at least 1,000 square feet. The spokesperson said the stadium's suites were particularly susceptible to fire due to their material.

A video of the fire in its early stages also emerged on Twitter, showing a small group of seats burning before spreading to the rest of the area.

This story will be updated if more information emerges on what caused the fire.
