Delmonico breaks hand, out 4-6 weeks

The Chicago White expect to be without left fielder Nicky Delmonico for four to six weeks after he broke his right hand when he was hit by a pitch Friday night.

The team said Delmonico suffered a fracture of the third metacarpal bone in his hand when he was hit by a 1-2 pitch in the second inning by Texas Rangers left-hander Matt Moore.

Leury Garcia came on to run for Delmonico and later scored on a double by Jose Abreu.

Delmonico, in his second year in the majors, is hitting .226 with one home run, seven RBIs and one stolen base. He hit 10 home runs in 256 at-bats in his rookie season of 2017.
