Del Valle soccer player Octavio Estrada voted Austin-area Boys Athlete of the Week
Del Valle soccer player Octavio Estrada, who scored both goals to lead the Cardinals past Westlake 2-1, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Boys Athlete of the Week for Jan. 15-20.
Estrada, who was the second straight soccer player to be honored as athlete of the week, received more than 50% of the vote. Anderson's Jesse Lang won the previous week's poll.
McCallum basketball player George Brode, Cedar Creek's Robert Conrad, Cedar Ridge's Peyton Dulin and Stony Point's Josiah Moseley were the other candidates.
The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Boys Athlete of the Week and Girls Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
