David Price calls out 'insensitive' tweet about the Red Sox going to the White House
Boston Red Sox pitcher Davis Price vowed to speak his mind more this season, and this is exactly what he meant.
The 33-year-old Price shared what he later termed as an “insensitive” tweet that focused on which Red Sox players are attending the White House to meet with President Donald Trump.

While Price’s tweet was initially interpreted as him calling out teammates, he clarified that wasn’t the case. It appears Price was calling out a reporter from The Athletic for sending a tweet Price deemed inappropriate.

Price is among the handful of players who decided to skip the White House visit. The Red Sox are expected to visit the White House on Thursday. Price declined the invite in late April, saying it was baseball season.
Price will be joined by Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Xander Bogaerts, among others. Red Sox manager Alex Cora has also declined to attend the event.
It’s far from the first time Price has spoken out despite the possibility of strong backlash. He criticized Major League Baseball for failing to include Betts in commercials and critiqued the league for the way it handles Jackie Robinson Day.
Price calling out the reporter puts an entirely different spin on the matter. Instead of potentially calling out teammates and risking alienating the clubhouse, Price’s tweet could actually bring the roster closer together.
