Crosspoint girls basketball team cruises into 1B state quarterfinals

Crosspoint’s girls basketball team secured a spot in the Class 1B state quarterfinals Saturday with a 53-29 victory over Almira Coulee Hartline in a regional game at Tacoma Community College.

The No. 4 seed Warriors (23-3) will open play at Spokane Arena on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.

The Warriors had no trouble with No. 5 Almira Coulee Hartline, leading 30-16 at halftime and 40-25 through three quarters. Sophomores Riya Tobosa and Momoya Iwata each had 17 points to lead the Sea-Tac League champions.

“Not sure I could be any prouder,” Crosspoint head coach Jenny Kuske said. “This team has earned every bit of success because they put in the work and they are never satisfied. It’s one thing to win, but it’s another to do whatever it takes to win, to do the hard things and keep grinding. That’s the difference, this team will do whatever it takes.”
