CHRIS CRAWFORD: After being the subject of rumors to be traded for several years, Whit Merrifield was finally moved at the deadline. And for reasons that have to do with baseball than not, it raised more than a few eyebrows that the destination was the Toronto Blue Jays. He's played well in his limited time with Toronto, picking up five hits and a steal over his four games.

The overall numbers are far from ideal, with a .645 OPS but it's worth pointing out that Merrifield was atrocious to begin the season. And since July 1st, he's slashed 295, 343, 484, with five steals and three homers.

Now, he goes from a mediocre-- and mediocre might be being to nice-- lineup with the Royals, to one of the most talented in all of baseball with the Blue Jays. Which should give him a chance to be driven in by stars and also create some run production for even if it doesn't come in the form of round trippers. The lack of power makes him a flawed player, but there's no denying that Merrifield's fantasy stock is up for the remainder of 2022.
