Couple's KFC wedding proposal is caught on video: 'A dream come true'

A KFC-loving couple is getting showed with free gifts and plenty of social media love after their engagement went viral on social media.

The couple, later identified as Bhut' Hector and his girlfriend, Nonhlanhla, was eating at a Kentucky Fried Chicken in South Africa when the heartwarming proposal took place.

In the video, Bhut' Hector can be seen kneeling down to pop the question right next to his tray of food, smiling and gazing around the restaurant after Nonhlanhla accepts. The bride-to-be then begins crying into her hands as the crowd cheers for the couple.

The footage was captured by a stranger and the pair was originally unidentified. That was, until KFC South Africa shared the proposal to its Twitter page, calling for followers to help them find the soon-to-be-newlyweds.

"DM us any leads, there might be a Finger Lickin' Good surprise in it for you too," the company tweeted.

Social media users chipped in, and KFC managed to find the couple the following day. The restaurant revealed it had sent Bhut' Hector and Nonhlanhla to the Soweto derby, a regular rivalry match between two of South Africa's most popular soccer teams.

Other companies quickly offered up their own gifts, congratulating the couple along the way. Clothing brand Forever New promised Nonhlanhla a necklace, bracelet and pair of earrings, noting the company hoped she'd wear them on her "big day."

After numerous Twitter users offered to help fund the couple's wedding and honeymoon, Audi South Africa replied to say it would offer free transportation for the post-wedding trip.

"These honeymoon destinations look far. Someone needs to drive them there. We got you," the company tweeted.

The duo also received praise from regular social media users, who shared support over their decision to get engaged at a popular, everyday place.

"Never judge anyone's standard of living. This must be a dream come true, beginning of happy life," one person tweeted.

"Oh my brought tears to my eyes, they look so in love!" another commented.

Kateka Malobola, who recorded the original video, said he's found the response to be completely overwhelming.

"It’s not even about the video, it’s about love," he said. "The man... I’m not as brave as he is. He went down on one knee in front of everybody at KFC. It’s genuine love," Malobola said in a video posted to his Twitter account last Friday.
