Correa expects to return for Astros on Friday

Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa -- out since June 26 -- says he plans to be activated for Friday's home game against the Seattle Mariners.

Correa had been on the 10-day disabled list with back soreness, missing 36 games.

"I'm just super excited, super happy to be back," Correa said, per MLB.com.

Correa is batting .268 with 13 homers and 49 RBIs in 73 games this season. He went 3-for-16 in a five-game rehab stint at Double-A Corpus Christi.

The Astros sent infielder J.D. Davis to Triple-A Fresno after Thursday's game to make room for Correa.
