Conor McGregor has hailed Celtic's 'die-hard' support after the Parkhead home crowd unveiled a huge banner inspired by the UFC fighter.

The Irishman, who is the only fighter in UFC history to hold two championship belts in two different weight divisions, will fight Floyd Mayweather in his first ever professional boxing match in just over a week's time.

McGregor, who has moved his fight camp from Dublin to Las Vegas in recent weeks, re-shared a photo of Celtic's Parkhead display on Wednesday night.

Brendan Rodgers' side took a huge step towards qualification for the group stages of the Champions League with a 5-0 first leg win over FC Astana.

Celtic's famous 'Green Brigade' marked the victory by unfurling a large banner depicting Rodgers and captain Scott Brown.

"We're not here to take part; we're here to take over," was written across the banner, a phrase McGregor has constantly used in his press conferences with Mayweather.

The banner also featured the letters 'CFC' in the iconic font of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

McGregor has predicted he will beat Mayweather Jr in two rounds after the use of 8oz gloves was approved for the contest.

"I don't believe with the new gloves he makes it out of the second round," said McGregor.

"Part of me kind of wants to show some skill and dismantle him but I do not see him absorbing the blows."

"I am ready to go to war for 12 rounds and I am also ready to put him away in seconds," he added. "There is no way in hell I am not prepared to fight in the deepest of trenches."

McGregor is used to wearing lighter, 4oz gloves in UFC whereas Mayweather has worn 8oz gloves in 46 of his 49 fights.
