Colts’ Quenton Nelson set to return from COVID-19 list

Indianapolis Colts left guard Quenton Nelson will come off of the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday, head coach Frank Reich told the media on Sunday.

Nelson went on the list earlier this week and was a close contact to a positive test. Because he was simply a close contact and not an actual positive test, he can return sooner than left tackle Eric Fisher, who did test positive and was placed on the COVID-19 list at the same time.

This is good news for Nelson because of the work he needs to do in terms of getting ready for game speed following surgery at the beginning of training camp to correct an issue in his foot.

Though there isn’t an expectation that there will be any lingering issues, Nelson needs to get himself back into game shape after taking a few weeks off. The fact that he’ll get roughly two weeks to get ready is encouraging.
