The No. 19 will no longer be worn at Colorado.

The school announced Friday that it would be retiring the number at the end of the season in honor of 1994 Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam.

Salaam, 42, was found dead in his car in a Colorado park on Dec. 5. Officials later ruled Salaam shot himself in the head. Per his autopsy report, Salaam suffered from depression and had a recent history “of life stressors.”

RB Michael Atkins currently wears No. 19 and the school said he’ll be the final player to wear the number before it’s discontinued in 2018.

Salaam, the only Heisman winner in the school’s history, won the Heisman over Ki-Jana Carter and Steve McNair after rushing for 2,055 yards and 24 touchdowns as Colorado went 11-1. He also won the Doak Walker Award and was the fourth running back in FBS history to break the 2,000-yard mark.
