College men's lacrosse: Clarkson rallies to roll past Brockport on road

Feb. 28—BROCKPORT — Sebastian Geiger led a balanced offensive output with three goals and an assist as Clarkson recovered from allowing two goals in the first two minutes to defeat SUNY Brockport 17-7 in a nonleague men's lacrosse game Wednesday.

Matt Reilly, Alex Seiler and Andrew Kearney each scored three goals for the Golden Knights (1-1). Clarkson's Thomas Fiebich assisted on three goals and Sam Mancabelli added a goal and an assist and Vincent Lavarnway two assists.

Nick Askin scored twice to give the Golden Eagles the early lead but Clarkson responded on goals by Geiger and Reilly to tie the game. Kearney then put the Knights ahead at 10:02 of the opening quarter and Clarkson kept the lead the rest of the game.

Griffin Emerson made 14 saves for the Golden Knights, which also got three saves from Eric Gellasch in the fourth quarter. Jack Acker and Gavin Miller combined for 10 saves for Brockport.

SUNY POTSDAM 13, UTICA 3

Brothers Peyton and Owen Walsh accounted for eight goals with four apiece as the Bears gained their first win of the season by defeating the Pioneers during a nonconference game in Utica.

Peyton Walsh added an assist. Junior captain Cobie Cree, a Salmon River graduate, provided two goals and an assist for Potsdam (1-1), which scored the first five goals of the game. Drew Costello, Tyler Gould and Crayton Cree each contributed a goal.

John Spoto scored twice and Colin Musso added a goal for Utica (0-1).

Saka Thompson, also formerly of Salmon River, made a career-high 21 saves for the win. Patrick Oswald made seven saves for the Pioneers.

SUNY PLATTSBURGH 21, SUNY CANTON 8

SUNY Plattsburgh used 10 goal-scorers to negate a game-high six goals by SUNY Canton's Austin Mesler to claim the nonleague clash in Plattsburgh that was also Canton's first game of the season.

Cam Morin and John Eiseman each scored four goals to lead the Cardinals (2-1). Donald Woods and Logan Jones added three goals apiece and Tim Keenan scored twice. Jimbo Farrelly, Anthony Faber, Ely Bruhns, Spencer Fucheck and Kyle Ruland scored a goal each.

Caeden Goodnough and Michael Newcomb added a goal apiece for the Kangaroos.
