Colin Kirst Named earns PLL All-Star Game selection

Rutgers lacrosse fans had a reason to celebrate on Thursday as former goalkeeper Colin Kirst was selected to the All-Star Game roster for the Premier Lacrosse League. The game will take place on July 22nd and will air at 7:30 pm ET on ESPN and ESPN+.

The former Rutgers lacrosse standout will play on the Rising Stars roster, which is made up of players with less than four years of professional experience.

So far this season, the New Jersey native has played in three games for the Boston Cannons and posted a 50.0 percent save percentage. He has added 26 saves to his resume while collecting ground balls. Kirst is proving to be a good luck charm, as the Cannons are 2-0 in games he has played in.

For many in Piscataway, Kirst’s success comes as no surprise. In 2021, he made 137 saves as a Third Team All-American while leading Rutgers to the Elite Eight. A year later, he was named a Second Team All-American by the USILA after making 234 saves, a program record. Kirst was also a two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection.

After being drafted in the third round by the PLL’s Cannons, he made his PLL debut last season. Since leaving Piscataway, Kirst has also been a member of the Las Vegas Desert Dogs franchise in the NLL.

Kirst is one of the seven Rutgers products on a PLL roster this season and the fourth alum to play in a PLL All-Star Game. The only former Scarlet Knights that have appeared in the game are Jules Heningburg, Joe Nardella, and Michael Rexrode.

Many Scarlet Knight lacrosse fans now have added motivation to tune in for one of the biggest PLL games of the year in just a few weeks.
