Clippers' Bradley (groin) out at least a week

Guard Avery Bradley, just six games into his tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers, is week-to-week due to a sports hernia, coach Doc Rivers said Sunday.

"Avery's gonna be out for a little bit, so we're just gonna have to figure out how long," Clippers coach Doc Rivers told reporters. "Don't know, it could be a week, it could be three weeks, but we don't know yet."

Bradley hasn't played since the All-Star break, missing the Clippers' loss to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday and Los Angeles' win over the Phoenix Suns on Friday.

The injury mirrors one that has sidelined Clippers rookie guard Jawun Evans since late January. Both might eventually need postseason surgery, according to Rivers.

"The bottom line is that it's a tough injury to have," Rivers said. "It's the same one Jawun has. Especially with what Avery does, I mean, he's one of the, if not the best, he's one of the top five defensive guys on the ball in the league, and that's all movement there, so it's a tough blow, but it is what it is."

The Clippers might be getting one injured player back soon, though. Rivers said Danilo Gallinari's right hand bruise, which occurred Thursday and kept the forward out Friday, was not serious. Gallinari is considered day-to-day.

"It'll be a pain-tolerance thing," Rivers added.

The Clippers acquired Bradley in the Jan. 30 deal that sent star forward Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons. Los Angeles also got Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic and first- and second-round draft picks, while Detroit also received Brice Johnson and Willie Reed.

In a combined 46 games this season, all starts, Bradley is averaging 14.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals.

Bradley, 27, spent his first seven NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics before he was dealt along with a 2019 second-round draft pick to Detroit for Marcus Morris.
