Cleveland Guardians' Jose Ramirez, Emmanuel Clase selected to 2023 MLB All-Star Game
The Guardians are sending two players to the All-Star festivities in Seattle.
Jose Ramirez and Emmanuel Clase will be the club's two representatives in the 2023 MLB All-Star Game. Both were announced during Sunday's All-Star Selection Show as American League reserves. The All-Star Game is set for July 11 at T-Mobile Park, home of the Mariners.
It's the fifth All-Star selection for Ramirez and the third in a row, as there wasn't an All-Star Game during the shortened season in 2020, when he finished second in AL MVP voting.
Ramirez is hitting .297 with a .367 on-base percentage and .886 OPS along with 13 home runs, 21 doubles, four triples, 52 RBIs and nine stolen bases.
His 3.3 fWAR is fifth among all AL position players and first among third basemen.
Ramirez also recently won a fan a brand new vehicle via the Liberty Ford Grand Slam Giveaway.

It's the second consecutive All-Star selection for Clase.
After leading the American League with 42 saves a year ago, Clase again leads the way with 24 saves so far in 2023. In 38⅔ innings entering Sunday, he had a 2.56 ERA and 2.53 FIP with 36 strikeouts.

Clase's 1.2 fWAR is tied for third among qualified AL relievers. Along with leading the AL with 24 saves, he also has a league-high 40 appearances.
The Guardians had three All-Stars last season, when Andres Gimenez joined Ramirez and Clase. Clase earned the save in the American League's win in 2022.
