Cleveland Cavaliers 2023 Las Vegas Summer League: Schedule, roster and more

The Cleveland Cavaliers' Summer League schedule has been released. The Cavs are set to play five games in Las Vegas starting in early July.

Cleveland will look to build off a 51-win campaign last season (the highest win total since the LeBron James era) that culminated in a first round playoff exit at the hands of the New York Knicks. And the first look at possible roster additions for 2023-24 will be in Summer League action.

While Summer League is generally a breeding ground for fans and pundits alike to overreact to performances good and bad, it's still a fun time to speculate whether the small sample size will carry over to regular season or mean nothing of importance.

The Cavs will have a few exciting young players on display, so diehard fans will want to tune in for that first glimpse.

Cleveland Cavs 2023 Summer League roster:

2023 second-round pick Emoni Bates, is the highlight of the Cavs' Summer League roster, as well as undrafted free-agent pickups Pete Nance, a Revere High graduate. He who struck a deal on an Exhibit 10 contract, meaning he'll receive a one-year contract on a minimum salary and be with Cleveland in the Summer League and training camp, Wendell Green Jr., a 5-foot-11 undrafted guard out of Auburn, Craig Porter Jr. out of Wichita State, who signed a two-way contract with Cleveland and Mike Bothwell out of Furman, a 23-year-old who got a Summer League invite.

Bates is the most intriguing of the above players. After entering college as the No. 1 overall basketball recruit in the country, Bates had a down year at Memphis that included an arrest on felony gun charges — he pleaded down to a misdemeanor charge.

From there, he transferred to Eastern Michigan and showed flashes of being a dynamite scoring option. Cavs fans will have to see if him sliding down to pick No. 49 of the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft was justified or if other teams missed the mark by passing on his talent.

If you're planning on tuning into Summer League this year, keep an eye on Bates to see how he stacks up against Summer League competition.
