Clemson to be without star defensive end vs. Notre Dame

No. 4 Clemson will have to manage without one of its star pass rushers against Notre Dame on Saturday.

Defensive end Xavier Thomas will not play against the Fighting Irish and did not make the trip to South Bend, Indiana.

Thomas had a setback with his foot during this week’s practice, according to TigerNet, after suffering a broken foot during fall camp this year.

He made his return to the field against Boston College on Oct. 8 when he had two sacks in just six snaps.

While the loss of Thomas hurts the Tigers’ defensive line depth, Clemson has played five games without him.

Defensive end K.J. Henry has filled in for the injured Thomas and will likely see plenty of action alongside Myles Murphy and Justin Mascoll.
