It's Clemson and Alabama and then everyone else among betting favorites for 2019 national title
Are you ready for a fifth-consecutive playoff matchup between Clemson and Alabama?
If you’re not, you should start to make a few preparations. While it’s no guarantee that the schools that have split the last four national championships will meet again in the playoff, oddsmakers think they have the best shots at the title after the 2019 season.
According to Bovada, Clemson is the betting favorite at +175. That’s $1.75 won for every dollar bet. Alabama is second at +250. The third favorite is Georgia, who is all the way up at +550. It’s Alabama and Clemson’s world. We’re all just living in it.

Best and worst title bets
If you’re looking for teams to risk a few bucks on, you can do worse than Oklahoma and Washington at +3000. Maybe there’s a slight chance that Kyler Murray decides to come back in 2019. And Oklahoma’s defense should be a lot better next season no matter what. Washington has Georgia transfer Jacob Eason at QB and is in a Pac-12 that’s still trying to figure out where it sits on the Power Five landscape. But an undefeated season by Washington or someone else would undoubtedly merit a playoff berth.
I’d advise you to not bet on Miami at +2500. The Hurricanes may bounce back under Manny Diaz in 2019, but a national title seems a little out of reach. The same goes for Michigan State at +3000. The Spartans had a lot of talent back in 2018 and couldn’t figure out what to do with it. Why would 2019 be a title-winning season?
