'On to Cincinnati': Don 'Wink' Martindale borrows Belichick phrase for Giants' blitz query

As the New York Giants prepared to host the Cincinnati Bengals in their second preseason game, Giants defensive coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale - a foe familiar to Cincinnati from his time with the Baltimore Ravens - answered questions about a suggestion from Patriots head coach Bill Belichick that the Giants blitzed a lot against New England in the preseason opener between the two teams.

Martindale borrowed a response Belichick made famous: "We're on to Cincinnati." And he smiled as he repeated it.

Video via Twitter from @SNYGiants:

Last December, Martindale said he didn't think they were ready to buy a gold jacket for Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Burrow said after Cincinnati defeated Baltimore that he didn't think Martindale's remark was necessary.

From The Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith via Twitter before Sunday's game:

In Oct. 2020, Martindale was unhappy about a field goal the Bengals kicked in the final minute of a 27-3 loss in Baltimore to avoid a shutout.
