'On to Cincinnati': Don 'Wink' Martindale borrows Belichick phrase for Giants' blitz query
As the New York Giants prepared to host the Cincinnati Bengals in their second preseason game, Giants defensive coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale - a foe familiar to Cincinnati from his time with the Baltimore Ravens - answered questions about a suggestion from Patriots head coach Bill Belichick that the Giants blitzed a lot against New England in the preseason opener between the two teams.
Martindale borrowed a response Belichick made famous: "We're on to Cincinnati." And he smiled as he repeated it.

Last December, Martindale said he didn't think they were ready to buy a gold jacket for Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Burrow said after Cincinnati defeated Baltimore that he didn't think Martindale's remark was necessary.
From The Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith via Twitter before Sunday's game:
Joe Burrow and new Giants DC Wink Martindale are having a long chat before the game. Very friendly with a hug and a pat on the back.
Famously, Martindale said of Burrow last year, “I don’t think we’re ready to buy a gold jacket for Joe just yet.” Burrow then threw for 525 yards. pic.twitter.com/Qlx2HqGXkf— Charlie Goldsmith (@CharlieG__) August 21, 2022
In Oct. 2020, Martindale was unhappy about a field goal the Bengals kicked in the final minute of a 27-3 loss in Baltimore to avoid a shutout.
