Choose from 10 stars, including from Auburn, Lena-Winslow and Harlem, for Athlete of the Week

We are just beginning to hit our stride as the 2023-2024 school year kicks in, and the fall sports schedule is really getting busy. So it's once again time for you to choose who you believe deserves the Rockford Register Star Athlete of the Week honor.

Every week we will nominate a group of stars from the previous week and let you, the reader, vote on our poll to decide who is the winner. The voting starts at rrstar.com on Tuesday every week and ends at noon on Friday.

You can email Jay Taft at jtaft@rrstar.com by 9 a.m. each Monday to submit a potential nominee who can be placed on the ballot.

Bridget Call, Polo volleyball

Call had 18 kills and 18 digs in Polo’s 21-25, 25-21, 25-16 comeback win over Pearl City.

Jack Christensen, North Boone football

Christensen racked up 324 all-purpose yards after he completed 13 of his 26 passes for 164 yards and 3 TDs and rushed 13 times for 160 yards and another touchdown. North Boone hammered Genoa-Kingston 35-6 on Friday.

Patrick DuBose, Auburn football

DuBose rushed for 114 yards and scored all four of Auburn's touchdowns on 18 carries to lead the Knights to a 26-14 win over Guilford.

Amelia Dunseth, Stillman Valley girls golf

Dunseth shot 42 at PrairieView to win medalist honors by a dozen strokes in Stillman Valley’s 223 to 233 nonconference victory over Eastland.

Megan Holder, Aquin volleyball

Holder had 25 assists, 4 aces and 3 kills as Aquin (2-0) came from behind to beat Stockton 17-25, 25-13, 25-10. She also had 19 assists and 3 kills in a 25-17, 25-15 win over Warren.

Bennett Graves, Stockton boys golf

Graves shot 39 at Westlake to earn medalist honors and lead Stockton (7-2) to a 164 to 189 victory over Pecatonica (4-2) in an NUIC boys golf match.

Stevan Ljubicic, Harlem soccer

This sophomore has been on a tear right out of the gates this season, and he had two goals and an assist in a 3-1 win over Auburn on Tuesday and two more goals during the 2-0 victory over Hononegah on Thursday. Harlem, which was scheduled to host undefeated Dundee Crown on Saturday, was off to a 4-2-1 start.

Kaidynce Lynch, Lena-Winslow volleyball

Lynch had 6 kills and 12 digs as Le-Win (3-0) beat Winnebago 25-22, 25-10.

Gavin Morrow, Oregon boys soccer

Morrow scored a hat trick with three goals during Oregon's 4-0 win over Lutheran last Wednesday. Oregon bolted out to a 5-2-1 start, 2-0 in the BNC, and Morrow had six goals to kickstart his junior season.

Jaden Williams, Rockford Christian football

Williams accounted for 375 yards of offense, 311 passing and 64 rushing, and 5 touchdowns, but he still couldn't quite bring Rockford Christian all the way back. Instead, the Royal Lions fell 55-34 to Winnebago.
