Chiefs sign CB Mo Claiborne, who is suspended for first four games of season
The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms with free agent cornerback Mo Claiborne, Yahoo Sports NFL writer Terez Paylor reports.
Claiborne spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets and his first five NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys; he was also teammates with Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu at Louisiana State.
The 29-year-old started 15 games for the Jets last year with two interceptions and 14 passes defended.
Claiborne is suspended for the first four games of the regular season due to a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy, which likely explains why he didn’t find a new team sooner.
Paylor reports the contract has $1.5 million in incentives, which gives it a maximum value of over $3 million.
