Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes to headline NFL’s 2020 ‘My Cause My Cleats’ campaign
The NFL is set to kick off its annual “My Cause My Cleats” campaign and a member of the Kansas City Chiefs is at the forefront.
For the fifth-straight year, NFL players are set to wear custom-painted cleats bringing awareness to various charitable causes. This year the NFL has a record number of players set to participate in “My Cause My Cleats” with over 1,000 players taking part and wearing customized cleats.
The NFL has plans to highlight players and their causes through national television spots in the coming weeks. On Sunday, December 6, Chiefs starting QB Patrick Mahomes and his foundation, 15 and the Mahomies, will be highlighted in the first television spot for “My Cause My Cleats.” He’ll also have a feature appear on NFL Network highlighting the charitable work done at 15 and the Mahomies.
“My Cause My Cleats was created out of conversations with NFL players who wanted an opportunity to shed light on causes that mean the most to them,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a press release. “Season after season I am inspired by the growing number of NFL players that participate in My Cause My Cleats and the causes they represent. Each player has a story to tell and we are grateful for the impact they make in the communities in which they live and work, and society in general.”
According to the NFL’s press release, 20.5 percent of players selected causes related to social justice, 17 percent of players selected causes related to youth and education and 14 percent of players chose to support health and wellness-related initiatives.
The cleats worn by players will later be auctioned off on NFL.com/Auction in order to raise money for the cause selected by each player. You can find out more information about each player’s cause at NFL.com/MyCauseMyCleats.
