Chiefs injury updates following Week 4 win vs. Eagles

The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t escape their Week 4 win against the Philadelphia Eagles without injuries.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided his typical postgame injury update after the game, sharing an update on rookie DE Joshua Kaindoh, who was ruled out of the game with an ankle injury.

“As far as the injuries go, Josh Kaindoh hurt his left ankle,” Reid told reporters following the game.

The best Kansas City can hope for here is a low-ankle sprain. A high-ankle sprain would likely put Kaindoh on a short-term injured reserve stay. We’ll likely get an update on his status once the team is back in Kansas City on Monday.

There was another injury that occurred late in the game as well.

Ben Niemann is in the concussion protocol,” Reid said. “Other than that we came out pretty healthy.”

The Chiefs were already dealing with injuries at both the linebacker position and the defensive end position. If both Niemann and Kaindoh end up missing Week 5 it could spell bad news for the team. Perhaps Frank Clark and Willie Gay Jr. will be ready to return to action from their respective injuries. If not, the Chiefs are going to have to rely on even more unproven depth to reinforce a defense that hasn’t been very good so far this season.
