Chiefs injury, absence updates from Day 9 of training camp

The Kansas City Chiefs held their ninth training camp practice on Saturday at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri.

One player returned from injury briefly on Saturday, before exiting practice again. WR Daurice Fountain was back at practice after missing the last practice on Thursday with a groin injury. He gave this practice a shot, but he suffered a finger injury shortly after the install period. FOX 4 KC’s PJ Green noticed him heading over to the medical tent on the sideline.

Fountain will get an X-Ray on his finger to determine the severity of the injury.

In other injury news, CB Rashad Fenton and RT Lucas Niang remain absent from practice and on the active/PUP list. They’ve both missed all nine of the team’s full training camp practices so far.

TE Jody Fortson remains absent from practice as he nurses a quad injury. He’s now missed five practice sessions. WR Gary Jennings suffered a concussion after a collision in the indoor practice facility on Wednesday. He remained absent from practice on Saturday as well.

A new absence from practice was DT Taylor Stallworth, who was spotted without pads and around the trainer tent on Saturday. After practice, reporters were told by Andy Reid that Stallworth is dealing with a contusion (bruise) on his knee. He added that Fortson and Fenton are progressing well from their injuries, but are not quite ready to practice yet.
