Some Chiefs fans planning trip to Buffalo for playoffs game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The anticipation is building for Sunday’s Kansas City Chiefs matchup with the Buffalo Bills, and Chiefs Kingdom is raring to go.

Many fans are planning to make the trek to Orchard Park, New York, for what’s arguably the game of the weekend. Surprisingly, it might be a little warmer up in Buffalo than it will be here in Kansas City.

What ticket, travel prices look like to watch Chiefs vs Bills game

But that’s not why Chiefs fans from far and wide will be traveling to western New York. Instead they’re going to cheer on the Chiefs in their quest to win back-to-back Super Bowls.

“I’m very excited for the playoffs. I’ve being going to them for the past couple of years. It’s been a lot of fun,” said Reggie Miller. He’s traveling to Buffalo for this weekend’s game.

Miller, a diehard Chiefs fan, first planned to make the 15-hour drive to Bills Mafia territory from the moment he knew the Bills were headed for the Divisional Round.

“It was becoming clear that it was going to be in Buffalo,” he said. “And I’ve seen them come to our stadium pretty heavy for the past couple of years for the playoffs, and I thought that I needed to return the favor.”

The plan to drive changed when he managed to get a flight, tickets to the game and lodging for under $1,000, minus any food and adult beverages.

Chiefs prepare for first playoff road game in almost a decade

For Miller, Chiefs games mean just a little bit more.

His mom was a passionate Chiefs fan. She died in 2000, so going to Chiefs game, he said, is his way to feel that much closer to her.

On Sunday, he promises to make her — and Chiefs Kingdom — proud.

“For the people going to the game, I want them to be as loud as they possibly can, act like you’re just at home at Arrowhead. We’ll be representing Chiefs Kingdom very loud, very proud. Have fun watching us on TV,” Miller said.

FOX4 spoke with another Chiefs fan who is sticking with his plan of driving from KC to Buffalo, and he said that no matter the weather, no matter any circumstances he’ll be in that stadium on Sunday night.

Both are rooting for the Texans in their game, so Kansas City can get one more home game at Arrowhead Stadium.
