Chatham Glenwood, Plains girls soccer win 2A regional thrillers, and other results
Here are the high school girls soccer regional final and sectional semifinal results around Springfield for Class 2A and 1A on Friday:

CLASS 2A
NO. 2 CHATHAM GLENWOOD 3, NO. 3 SPRINGFIELD HIGH 2: At Glenwood, the host Titans summoned their biggest comeback of the season with the 2A regional title on the line.
Glenwood (14-6-1) rallied to a 3-2 victory over Springfield High after surrendering the game’s first two goals.
Glenwood junior standout Rowann Law poured in the first two goals before twin sister, Rylann, unleashed the go-ahead goal with 16 minutes, 13 seconds remaining.
“She (Rowann) got the momentum going and we kept building and building, and we finally got it,” Rylann said.

Rowann scored her first goal on a penalty kick following a hand ball induced by Rylann to pare the deficit to 2-1 by halftime.
Rylann subsequently drilled the post but Rowann mopped up the rebound following a free kick prompted by a yellow card in the first eight minutes of the second half.
Rylann later blasted the deciding goal inside the near post and the reigning 2A state champions escaped with the win.
“We talked about it at halftime,” Rylann said. “We have to pressure, pressure their backs and it allowed us to fluster their defense and we made our goals from it.”

Glenwood coach Jay Lipe credited the midfielders such as Makenna Yeager, Lyla Franke and Karley Hawkins for turning the tide with possession.
The Titans advance to the Pleasant Plains Sectional semifinals against No. 1 Mahomet-Seymour on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Bulldogs dispatched No. 4 Lincoln 7-1 in its home regional final on Saturday.
“Rowann and Rylann scored our goals tonight, but hands down I think the difference as we got midway through the first half is we started to play harder,” Lipe said. “Springfield just really outworked us in the first 20 minutes and that’s a credit to their kids. They came out with no fear.”
Springfield High sophomore Kamryn Hoffman scored the opening goal in the first nine minutes before assisting to freshman Kalyn Burton less than four minutes later.
SHS (15-8) was without senior starters Maddie Foster and Lily Lambert.
“Unfortunate breaks,” SHS coach Pat Phillips said of Glenwood’s first two goals, “but you can’t give a good team those two dead balls. It’s unfortunate, but I’m proud of the way the girls played, especially that first half.”

NO. 1 PLEASANT PLAINS/NEW BERLIN 2, NO. 4 ROCHESTER 1 (2OT): At Jacksonville, Caroline Willenborg catapulted the Cardinals to their sixth regional title but first ever in Class 2A with a goal in double overtime.
Sophia Smith lifted Plains (24-1) ahead 1-0 by intermission before Rochester's Taylor Offer evened the scored with 14 minutes left in regulation.
It was Willenborg's eighth goal of the season. Bailey Leach and Grace Sabatka each earned an assist for Plains, who next hosts its sectional semifinal against No. 2 Champaign Central on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
The Rockets end 13-8-2.
CLASS 1A
NO. 1 SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 7, NO. 2 GREENVILLE 1: At Riverton, Caroline Sheehan chalked up the hat trick and the Cyclones (20-5) will meet No. 2 Quincy Notre Dame for the sectional title on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Sheehan supplied the first two goals, assisted by Sophia Paul and Emma Johnson, and SHG took a 3-0 lead into intermission after Norah Long's assist to Johnson, who later scored again in the second half on an assist from Ali Fleischli.

Long assisted Sheehan's final goal before scoring herself on an Isabella Perryman assist. Samantha Perryman also scored on Anne Mizeur's assist.
In other action, QND's Makayla Patton dashed No. 1 Alton Marquette with a goal in overtime to reach the sectional final.
NO. 1 WILLIAMSVILLE 7, NO. 3 MONMOUTH-ROSEVILLE 0: At Williamsville, Brooklyn Termine totaled four goals and the host Bullets advanced to Tuesday’s sectional final against No. 2 Bloomington Central Catholic at 7 p.m.
Calynn Frye chipped in two goals while Madison Rigdon also scored.
NO. 2 BLOOMINGTON CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3, NO. 1 ATHENS 2 (PKs): At Williamsville, the Saints (16-7) prevailed 3-2 in penalty kicks after a scoreless tie in regulation and two overtimes.
The match was delayed during the first half due to lightning. Athens ended 17-5-1.
