Charles Barkley criticizes Sixers for being stupid for not moving Ben Simmons

Charles Barkley spent eight seasons as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers and he made a big impact during his time there. He averaged 23.3 points and 11.6 rebounds and he has his number 34 jersey retired at the Wells Fargo Center to honor his contributions.

Lately, Barkley has taken a lot of shots at the Sixers–specifically Joel Embiid–but he has now turned his attention to Ben Simmons. The 25-year old 3-time All-Star still has yet to play a game for the Sixers now 43 games into the 2021-22 season and he is content with just sitting out the entire season if he is not moved by the Feb. 10 deadline.

Barkley was recently asked by TMZ Sports what he thinks of the situation and he called out the Sixers for being a bit stubborn in the trading process for Simmons:

There’s some good trades out there, but the Sixers are being stubborn and wasting Joel Embiid’s great season. They’re just being stupid. Just being stupid.

While a lot of people believe that the Sixers are wasting Embiid at the moment–which could be the case when considering the injuries he has sustained in his career and one just doesn’t know how long he will hold up–the fact remains that the big fella is on board with what is going on.

The Sixers remain confident that they can nab that top 25 player for Simmons in the offseason. They have their eyes set on a guy like James Harden and they are not going to just give in or settle for just anything for one of the game’s brightest stars.
