What channel is Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings today in Week 16? Time, TV schedule

The Detroit Lions on Sunday go for their first division title crown since 1993 when they take on the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis on Christmas Eve in Week 16 of the NFL season.

This is the first of two meetings in three weeks between the NFC North Division foes; they will play Week 18 in Detroit to close the regular season.

The Lions (10-4) can clinch the division with a win or tie, and would need to lose their final three games and have the Vikings (7-7) win out to fumble the NFC North. The Lions play in Dallas in Week 17, and the Vikings host Green Bay.

LIVE UPDATES NOW: Lions vs. Vikings game score, highlights

Minnesota has lost three of four and will be starting 28-year-old journeyman Nick Mullens, one of four quarterbacks to start a game this season for the Vikings. Mullens did enough to win last week in Cincinnati, completing 26 of 33 passes for 303 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. But the Vikings squandered a double-digit fourth-quarter lead in a gut-wrenching 27-24 overtime loss. This will be Mullens' 19th career NFL start across six seasons.

The Lions enter off a convincing 42-17 home victory over Denver, in which Jared Goff threw five touchdown passes. Rookies Sam LaPorta (three TDs) and Jahmyr Gibbs (two TDs) combined for five scores.

One critical storyline to watch: Goff has struggled against Vikings first-year defensive coordinator Brian Flores in the past.

A Vikings win would slide them back into the No. 6 seed in the NFC and keep the Lions at No. 3, setting up a potential first-round playoff matchup at Ford Field should the Lions win the division in the final two weeks.
