A Central Oklahoma football player lost his foot early Sunday morning in a railroad accident, according to Oklahoma City police.

Derek Loccident, a sophomore defensive back, was apparently crawling under a stopped train when it began moving. He crawled several hundred yards to flag down assistance, and is in stable condition. Initial reports indicated that his foot had gotten trapped in a railway switch, but later police reports clarified that he had been crawling beneath a train. The railway company is investigating the incident.

“The only thing that matters right now is that Derek knows he has our full support,” head coach Nick Bobeck said in a statement. “We are here for him. It’s important for his family to know that too. This isn’t about him being a football player right now, it’s about him being a young man that we are here for.”

Through two games, Loccident led the UCO Bronchos in tackles with 15.
