CBS Sports matches Ravens CB Marcus Peters with 49ers

The Baltimore Ravens acquired cornerback Marcus Peters from the Los Angeles Rams in the middle of the 2019 season in exchange for inside linebacker Kenny Young and a fifth-round selection. The trade is regarded as one of the best in team history, with Peters being a major contributor in almost every season he has been in Baltimore.

Peters suffered a devastating knee injury in 2021 that caused him to miss the entire season, then struggled in his return to the field in 2022. He still remains a free agent, and when playing matchmaker with the remaining 2023 NFL free agents, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports paired Peters up with the San Francisco 49ers.

“He may be past his prime, but Peters still brings lots of toughness to the secondary, and if San Francisco still considers itself an NFC contender, it could use added depth on the back end, where Emmanuel Moseley and Jimmie Ward departed via free agency. The team did add Isaiah Oliver from Atlanta, but Peters’ outside experience could come in handy down the stretch.”
