Cast your vote for the April 21-27 Chillicothe Gazette Athletes of the Week

CHILLICOTHE — The end of the week is here again, and you know what that means.

Every week, plenty of impressive athletic performances occur for high school teams around the area. Some, though, stand out as the cream of the crop. Now, it's time to select your favorites.

This week's polls will run from 6 a.m. Monday until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

To nominate a student-athlete for next week's poll, email Chillicothe Gazette sports reporter Jack Gleckler at JGleckler@gannett.com with the athlete's name along with relevant statistics or results. You can also direct message him on X, formerly known as Twitter @thejackgleckler to nominate an athlete for next week. Featured athletes are otherwise selected based on results provided from coaches.

Chillicothe Gazette Girls Athlete of the Week Poll, April 21-27

  • Piketon softball's Aubrey Heath went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI in an 11-8 win over Westfall on Wednesday.

  • Adena softball's Marly Halcomb went 4-for-5 with a double, four runs and a stolen base in an extra-inning, 11-10 win over Piketon on Friday.

  • Zane Track track and field's Kendra Detillion placed first in shot put and discus with respective throws of 36-2 and 113-10 at the Huntington Invitational on Monday.

  • Huntington track and field's Madelyn Smith placed first in discus with a throw of 98-11 at the Unioto Invitational on Friday.

Chillicothe Gazette Boys Athlete of the Week Poll, April 21-27

  • Adena track's Bryson Smith placed first in long jump and triple jump, second in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200 for medalist honors at the Bob Bergstrom Invitational at McClain on Friday.

  • Chillicothe track's relay team of Myles Lewis, Shawn Smith, Mamo Willison and Lucas Rinehart placed first in the 4x200 and broke a school record with a time of 1:29.90 at the Cavalier Invitational on Thursday.

  • Westfall baseball's Bryce Wickline went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, two RBIs and six stolen bases in a 16-8 win over Piketon on Wednesday.

  • Unioto baseball's Ashton Crace struck out 11 batters and allowed just three hits while going 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI in a 4-1 win over Zane Trace on Friday.
