Cascade's Zach Moore repeats as OSAA tennis state champion

Zach Moore has repeated as state champion.

The Cascade senior beat Marist’s EJ Roedl 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday to win the OSAA Class 4A/3A/2A/1A tennis state championship for the second year in a row.

Just like last season, Moore didn’t drop a set in the state tournament.

“I had a blast. I just want to thank God and my family for supporting my journey and making this experience possible,” Moore said. “I’m happy with how I played today, and I look forward to furthering my tennis career at George Fox.”

Moore leaves the Cougars for George Fox University as a two-time state champion.

Moore is the second Cascade athlete to win a state title this week, joining Maddie Dustin, who won the OSAA Class 4A/3A/2A/1A golf state championship Tuesday.

In 5A girls, Silverton doubles team Lindsey Gardner and Paige Davisson lost in the semifinals to Crescent Valley’s Anna Nguyen and Kiah Hollister. They then lost in the third-place match to Crescent Valley’s Haley Bland and Zoe Hughes.
