On Campus: a look at what former local stars are doing at the next level

A year ago, Ohio Dominican volleyball player Kelsey Shoup asserted herself as one of the top defensive players in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

The former Dalton standout has picked up where she left off at the 2022 season, helping the Panthers to a 2-1 weekend at the season-opening California (Pa.) Vulcan Invitational.

Shoup, who surpassed the 1,000-dig plateau last fall, posted a pair of strong defensive performances in a pair of five-set matches with Bloomsburg and host California — registering 26 and 27 digs, respectively. She also had a combined 17 assists in the two contests, followed by a 12-dig effort against West Virginia Wesleyan.
