Bushland's Brylee Adams signs to play softball with UT Tyler

There isn't a whole lot Brylee Adams hasn't accomplished during her time in high school. One of the most dominant and decorated Panhandle softball players in recent memory added one more accomplishment to her track record on Wednesday, though: A college commitment.

Adams, a senior at Bushland High School, signed her national letter of intent this past Wednesday on to play softball at UT Tyler next year. She held her ceremony in the foyer of Bushland High School.

"I'm so excited," Adams said. "This has always been something I've dreamed of since I started softball when I was six. It's super exciting knowing I found my place finally."

Adams has more than earned an opportunity to play at the next level. Her sophomore season she was recognized as Amarillo Globe-News Player of the Year for her outstanding play. She hit a team-high 20 home runs while batting .500 with 64 hits, 17 doubles and 65 RBI. She also went 17-7 with 168 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.82 in the circle with three no-hitters.

Last season, she was just as dominant in earning first team honors on the AGN Super Team. She went 18-5 with an ERA of 1.81 in the circle while also batting .555 with 14 home runs and 50 RBI. Bushland advanced to the regional semifinals as a team.

Plenty of schools came after Adams for her talents, including a Division I squad in the University of Illinois Chicago. In the end, though, her heart still belonged to Texas.

"I chose Tyler mainly because I felt God led me there," Adams said. "My faith is a really huge part of my life, and I just feel like that's where God wanted me. I'll also get to be in nursing, which is what I really want to do with my life."

Adams is the second Bushland player to sign a college NLI in two months after Jayce Ornelas signed to play for Paris Junior College in December. Adams said she's looking forward to one last run with "The Bushland Bomb Squad" and hoping to add one last trophy to the case.

"I definitely want to make it past the regional semifinals which is where we've stalled every year I've been in high school," she said. "Other than that I just want to enjoy my senior year."
