Buffalo Bills 20, New York Jets 12: Final score, recap, highlights

The Buffalo Bills are currently the top seed in the AFC and control their own destiny for home-field advantage in the playoffs. Buffalo's (9-3) quest to run the table the rest of the regular season begins by hosting the New York Jets (7-5) at Highmark Stadium in Week 14.

Buffalo won three straight away games over a 12-day span and returns home for the first time in four weeks.

The Bills will be without Von Miller for the rest of the season after the linebacker had ACL surgery earlier in the week.

Final score: Buffalo Bills 20, New York Jets 12

Buffalo is still the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The Bills have won four straight games and have at least 10 wins for the fourth straight year.

Josh Allen finished 16 of 27 for 147 yards and a touchdown and added 47 yards and a TD on 10 carries. Greg Rousseau had two of the Bills' four sacks. Mike White went 27 of 44 for 268 yards and Zonovan Knight rushed for 71 yards on 17 carries.

Bills defense holds to seal win - :26 4th quarter

Mike White's gutsy effort didn't result in a win. White threw four straight incompletions to end New York's hopes at a comeback.

Jets force three-and-out for chance to tie - :46 4th quarter

New York elected to kick the ball deep instead of try an onside kick. Nyheim Hines returned the kickoff 19 yards to the Bills' 29. Josh Allen threw incomplete for Dawson Knox on first down and Devin Singletary ran for 4 yards on second down. Allen was tripped up on a designed run for 1 yard on third-and-6. Sam Martin punted 45 yards to the Jets' 21.

Jets make short field goal - Bills 20, Jets 12

New York forced a three-and-out and started at its 36-yard line after Braxton Berrios returned the punt 13 yards. Mike White completed to Tyler Conklin to 6 yards and Elijah Moore for 19 yards. Four more completions to Conklin, Garrett Wilson, Michael Carter and Moore gave the Jets third-and-1 from the Bills' 9. White threw incomplete for Berrios. New York elected to kick a 26-yard field goal instead of go for it on fourth down. Greg Zuerlein hit the 26-yard field goal.

Michael Carter loses fumble - 5:34 4th quarter

Braxton Berrios returned the free kick 20 yards to start the Jets at their 37-yard line. Mike White completed to Garrett Wilson for 14 yards and Zonovan Knight sprinted for 13 yards. Knight made a catch for 8 yards to get to the Bills' 28 before New York turned the ball over. Michael Carter had the first down before the ball was jarred by safety Damar Hamlin and recovered by linebacker Matt Milano at the Bills' 22.

Jets block punt in end zone for safety - Bills 20, Jets 9

New York is staying alive. Jets rookie Jermaine Johnson blocked Sam Martin's punt out of the end zone for a safety.

Mike White takes another hit as he battles injury - 9:19 4th quarter

Mike White came back from the locker room and re-entered the game. White completed to Garrett Wilson for 13 yards and hit Elijah Moore for 7 yards for another first down. Then White took two more hits to his midsection. Shaq Lawson sacked White for an 11-yard loss and two plays later White was hit as he threw incomplete to Elijah Moore. Braden Mann punted 43 yards to the Bills' 8.

Tyler Bass makes another field goal - Bills 20, Jets 7

Buffalo has scored 13 unanswered points. Devin Singletary has runs of 16 yards and 4 yards to get Buffalo into field goal range. Tyler Bass made a 49-yard field goal.

Jets go three-and-out - end 3rd quarter

The Jets offense is downgraded with Joe Flacco. New York was flagged for holding, Flacco missed Elijah Moore, checked down to Moore for 1 yards and handed off to Michael Carter for 2 yards. Braden Mann's 51-yard punt was returned 16 yards by Nyheim Hines to the Bills' 47.

Tyler Bass makes field goal - Bills 17, Jets 7

Buffalo got three points off the turnover. Josh Allen completed to Gabe Davis for 17 yards to get into field goal range. Tyler Bass made a 38-yard field goal.

Joe Flacco fumbles on first play - 4:30 3rd quarter

Joe Flacco came in for injured Mike White and immediately turned the ball over. Flacco lost the ball on a strip sack by Greg Rousseau and defensive tackle DaQuan Jones recovered at the Jets' 44.

Mike White injured again - 4:45 3rd quarter

Jets quarterback Mike White took another big shot. Buffalo linebacker Matt Milano blitzed and speared White in the midsection as the quarterback released the ball. White stayed down in pain.

Josh Allen rushing TD gives Buffalo lead - Bills 14, Jets 7

Things have picked up offensively. Buffalo went 75 yards for a touchdown. Josh Allen completed to Stefon Diggs for 32 yards and a defensive pass interference penalty by cornerback Michael Carter II put the Bills in the red zone. Allen finished off the drive with a 5-yard touchdown run. It's the 24th time Allen has thrown and rushed for a TD in the same game.

Zonovan Knight rushing TD ties game for Jets - Bills 7, Jets 7

New York marched 74 yards for its first touchdown to start the second half of the season. Mike White completed to Garrett Wilson along the right sideline for 13 yards on third-and-12 and three plays later connected to Braxton Berrios for 25 yards to get into Bills' territory. Zonovan Knight capped the drive with a 13-yard touchdown run.

Halftime: Bills 7, Jets 0

It took 10 punts before the first points of the game. Josh Allen has completed 9 of 15 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown and leads the Bills with 36 yards rushing. Mike White is 9 of 14 for 86 yards.

Josh Allen throws TD pass to somersaulting Dawson Knox - Bills 7, Jets 0

Buffalo took advantage of a terrible penalty by the Jets. An encroachment penalty by linebacker C.J. Mosley on fourth-and-1 from the Bills' 39 gave the Buffalo offense life. Josh Allen completed back-to-back short passes to Isaiah McKenzie and then scrambled 11 yards to the Jets' 29. New York was flagged for defensive holding and Allen hit Dawson Knight for a 24-yard touchdown. Knox took a hit as he leaped for the end zone and somersaulted in mid-air for the score.

Jets commit awful penalty to extend Bills' drive - 1:17 2nd quarter

New York almost forced a three-and-out to get the ball back before halftime. Buffalo lined up to go for it on fourth-and-1 from its 39-yard line to try to force the Jets offsides. They obliged. Linebacker C.J. Mosley hurdled the line for an encroachment penalty.

Mike White injured after taking big hit by Ed Oliver - 3:04 2nd quarter

Mike White left the game for two plays after taking a huge hit. White stayed in the pocket to hit Elijah Moore for 24 yards but he was buried by defensive tackle Ed Oliver and stayed down before walking off under his own power. Joe Flacco came in to hand the ball to Zonovan Knight for no gain and throw incomplete to Tyler Conklin. White re-entered to throw a strike to Garrett Wilson for 12 yards. New York's drive stalled there. Michael Carter lost 2 yards, A.J. Epenesa recorded a strip sack on White for an 11-yard loss and Carter ran for 3 yards before Braden Mann punted into the end zone.

Buffalo punts for fifth time, Quinnen Williams injured - 6:24 2nd quarter

New York defensive tackle Quinnen Williams was injured on a non-contact calf injury on the first play of Buffalo's possession. Buffalo faced third-and-2 before tackle Dion Dawkins was called for holding and Josh Allen was sacked by defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins for a 5-yard loss. Sam Martin punted to the Jets' 26-yard line.

New York gained one first down before punting again. Nyheim Hines returned Sam Martin's punt 23 yards to midfield.

Josh Allen hurdles Jets' Lamarcus Joyner - 14:02 2nd quarter

Josh Allen hurdles are so mesmerizing. Allen took off scrambling for 15 yards, leaped over safety Lamarcus Joyner and then was spun 360 degrees in the air on a follow-up hit by linebacker Quincy Williams. Buffalo's possession ended in another punt.

Quinnen Williams has 2 sacks on Josh Allen in first half - end 1st quarter

Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams got Josh Allen again. Allen converted a third-down with a 6 yards pass to Isaiah McKenzie before Williams twirled him down on the ensuing play for a 9-yard loss.

Six possessions, six punts. New York lost 9 yards on a three-and-out. Greg Rousseau dropped Mike White for a 9-yard sack and then Rousseau batted down a pass at the line before Michael Carter dropped a short pass on third down.

Buffalo's offense has punted three straight times to start the game. Center Mitch Morse was flagged for ineligible man downfield and tackle Dion Dawkins committed a false start to set up first-and-20. Josh Allen threw incomplete for Gave Davis, Allen ran up the middle for 4 yards and then Isaiah McKenzie couldn't haul in a pass from Allen that would've converted a third-and-16.
