Bucks' Patrick Beverly throws ball at fan, dismisses ESPN reporter in Game 6 vs Pacers

Patrick Beverly's actions during and after Game 6 of the NBA playoffs on Thursday against the Indiana Pacers are being heavily scrutinized.

The first of the two incidents involving the Milwaukee Bucks guard came in the final minutes of the Bucks' 120-98 loss to the Pacers, when the TNT broadcast showed the former Arkansas Razorback throwing a basketball toward Pacer fans behind the Bucks bench at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Beverly initially threw the ball toward one fan and then, after asking for the ball to be returned, threw it back with more force.

Beverly was asked about the incident after the game, to which he said, "No, don't worry about that. Nothing," Beverly said (as noted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bucks beat reporter Jim Owczarski).

Later after the game, Beverly went onto X, formerly known as Twitter, to further comment on the incident himself.

That wasn't the only incident involving Beverly on Thursday.

Before finishing up an answer to a question from a different reporter, Beverly stopped his postgame media availability and asked ESPN's Malinda Adams if she subscribes to his podcast, "Pat Bev Pod." When prompted to answer by Beverly, Adams said she is not a subscriber — to which the Bucks guard said she can't interview him any longer.

Beverly then pushed away Adams' ESPN mic, asking her to "remove that from my face please." He then asked her to leave his locker, as she was "not subscribed to his pod."

Adams on Friday tweeted on X that both Beverly and the Bucks reached out to her to apologize.

As noted by CBS Sports' Jack Maloney, Beverly has refused to speak with reporters who do not subscribe or follow his podcast since he was traded to the Bucks from the Philadelphia 76ers at the NBA trade deadline.

Beverly's actions have received negative backlash from those within the basketball world, including ESPN's Stephen A. Smith.

"I just can't believe he did that. I've known Patrick Beverley for years. I love the brother. It's inexcusable. It's indefensible," Smith said on "First Take" Friday morning. "The punishment is forthcoming and I suspect a severe one."

Beverly went to social media early Friday morning apologizing for his actions, as well. The 6-foot-2 guard finished with six points on 3-of-11 shooting from the field in the Bucks' season-ending loss to the Pacers.
