Browns make it official, Jim Schwartz replaces Joe Woods as defensive coordinator

The Cleveland Browns have named their new defensive coordinator after firing Joe Woods. After conducting interviews with Brian Flores, Dennard Wilson, Jim Schwartz, and Sean Desai, the Browns have opted to hire Schwartz as their new defensive coordinator.

The former head coach of the Detroit Lions has won a Super Bowl as a defensive coordinator under Doug Pederson with the Philadelphia Eagles as well. The Browns will not need to change up their scheme too much as Schwartz runs a similar Cover-3 and Cover-1-based defense. As the Browns look to get back in the playoffs in 2023, the hiring of a new defensive coordinator is a massive first step.
