Brooklyn Nets land outside top 10 in Bleacher Report’s future power rankings
The uncertainty surrounding the Brooklyn Nets cleared slightly when Kevin Durant decided to honor his contract and rescind his trade request, but there’s still a general sense of unease surrounding the team as we enter a new season. Brooklyn’s roster is loaded, but there are still plenty of question marks.
Is Ben Simmons both physically and mentally ready to be an All-Star level player? Will Joe Harris and Seth Curry produce at the same level following their respective surgeries? And can this defense produce stops in crucial moments?
The Nets are firmly in championship-or-bust territory, but if the team doesn’t produce a deep playoff run in 2023, what does that mean for the future of the franchise? Will Kevin Durant want out (again)? Will the team split with Kyrie Irving following his option year?
Bleacher Report ranked every team in the league based on the outlook of their next three years, and the Nets’ many issues left Brooklyn ranked 11th.

“Adding Ben Simmons as a playmaking 5 and surrounding those three with the shooting of Seth Curry and Joe Harris sounds like a recipe for utter dominance.
Thing is, no team in the NBA feels more destined to resemble a soap opera. For various reasons, availability has been a huge problem for all three stars. And though he recently rescinded his trade request, the foundation of the relationship between KD and the organization feels, at the very least, unstable.
The best-case scenario for this team is a championship within the next three years, but a teardown and rebuild might be the likelier one.”
