NORTHVIEW, MI. - The Bronson Lady Vikings finished with runner-up honors at the Northview softball Invitational on Saturday, finishing 3-1 on the day with wins over Kenowa Hills, Northview and Comstock Park before ending the tournament with a tough loss to Northville in the championship finale by the score of 7-2.

To kick off the day it was Bronson rolling past Kenowa Hills by the score of 13-4.

Ashlynn Harris had a big day on the diamond, securing both the win on the mound while also leading the Viking offense. Harris secured the win after throwing four innings on the mound, allowing four unearned runs on six hits with two walks with three strikeouts. At the plate Harris finished the game 3 for 4 with two singles and a triple with three RBIs.

Also helping the Bronson offense was Haylie Wilson with a single and a stolen base; Brealyn Lasky with two singles and a stolen base; Addison Harris with a single and an RBI; Roni Bir with two singles, one RBI and two stolen bases; Lydia Wells with two singles and two RBIs; and Kaylee Wilber with a single and an RBI.

Mya Webb pitched the final inning of the win, giving up no hits or runs.

In game two of the tournament the Vikings wrapped up an exciting 9-8 win over the host team from Northview. Bronson started the game a little slow, finding themselves trailing 7-0. The Vikings battled their way all the way back to a tie, eventually taking the victory in extra innings.

Addison Harris notched the win on the mound after throwing six full innings, allowing 11 hits and eight runs, four earned, with two strikeouts.

Roni Bir had a big game at the plate, finishing 2 for 4 with a single and a triple with four RBIs, including the game winning run.

Also adding to the Bronson effort was Ashlynn Harris with a single; Haylie Wilson with a single and a triple with two RBIs; Ciara Blankenship with two singles; Brealyn Lasky with a single; Addison Harris with a single and an RBI; and Kaylee Wilber with a single.

Bronson advanced on to the championship game after a 14-0 drubbing of Comstock Park.

Ashlynn Harris took the win on the mound for Bronson in game three, throwing three full innings while allowing only one hit with six strikeouts. Mya Webb finished off the game, throwing one inning while allowing one hit with a strikeout.

Addison Harris led the offensive effort for Bronson, finishing 3 for 4 with two singles and a triple with four RBIs.

Adding to the Bronson victory was Ashlynn Harris with two singles; Ciara Blankenship with a single, one RBI and a stolen base; Haylie Wilson with a single and two RBis; Roni Bir with a single and an RBI; Lydia Wells with a single and an RBI; Aubree Calloway with a single and an RBI; and Kaylee Wilber with a single and a stolen base.

With the victory the Vikings advanced on to the championship game to face Northville. Northville was able to secure the victory, defeating Bronson by the score of 7-2, givng the Vikings runner-up honors.

Addison Harris took the tough loss on the mound after throwing four innings and allowing seven runs, two earned, on five hits. Harris struck out two batters while walking three.

Ashlynn Harris finished out the game on the mound, throwing the final two innings while allowing no hits or runs with one walk and one strikeout.

Leading the Bronson offense was Ashlynn Harris, Addison Harris, and Ciara Blankenship all with singles, with Blankenship adding a stolen base.

"I am very proud of the way the girls played today,” said Bronson head coach Becky Gray. “Against Northview we were down 0-7 and found a way to come back and win in the international tiebreaker. We made some great strides today and are really turning a corner. We hope to continue this into a tough double header on Monday against Buchanan.”

With their 3-1 effort Saturday the Bronson Vikings improve to 15-8 overall on the year. The Vikings will next see action when they travel to Buchanan on Monday for non-conference double header against an extremely dangerous opponent in the Bucks.
