Broncos not expected to receive any comp picks for 2023 NFL draft

The Denver Broncos don’t have many picks available for the 2023 NFL draft, and it sounds like there’s no compensatory help on the way.

The league awards comp picks each year from rounds 3-7 to teams who lost more than they gained during free agency the previous offseason (to put it simply).

OverTheCap.com does a great job projecting comp picks for each team every offseason, and OTC does not believe Denver will be awarded any extra picks this year. The Broncos’ 2022 additions did help a few other teams, though.

By signing outside linebacker Randy Gregory to a five-year, $70 million contract, Denver ensured that the Dallas Cowboys will receive a fifth-round comp pick in exchange for losing Gregory.

The Broncos created similar scenarios with defensive lineman D.J. Jones (with a fifth-round pick going to the San Francisco 49ers) and cornerback K’Waun Williams (with a seventh-round pick going to the Niners).

Denver is currently expected to have six picks in the 2023 NFL draft.
