Brian Rice named radio voice for Lady Vols’ basketball

Brian Rice has been named the voice of Tennessee women’s basketball.

Rice replaces Greater Knoxville Area Sports Hall of Famer Mickey Dearstone, who announced his retirement following the 2021-22 season.

Rice, a Knoxville, Tennessee native, has previously served as the radio voice of the Lady Vols’ softball team.

He is an award winning sports talk show host and has 10 years of broadcasting experience.

Rice filled in for Deerstone on two Tennessee women’s basketball broadcasts in 2020.

He will also host the Kellie Harper television show and assist with other promotional duties for the nation’s winningest women’s college basketball program.

Rice became the play-by-play voice of Tennessee softball in 2013 and has served as a fill-in for other sports. He previously served as the Lady Vols’ public address announcer at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Rice has served as a play-by-play commentator for Tennessee baseball, volleyball and soccer for UTSports.com and SEC Network+.
