Brentwood stays unbeaten, leads Nashville high school football roundup, Week 5

Here is a look at the top Nashville area high school football games from Week 5 of the 2023 TSSAA season.

Brentwood 20, Summit 0: Baylor Hayes was 10-of-13 passing for 190 yards and a touchdown to lead Brentwood (5-0). Gavyn Nelson had 26 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown and five catches for 76 yards for the Bruins. Mason McElhaney had 13 carries for 60 yards for Summit (1-4).

Clarksville 48, West Creek 7: Ahmoyre Galbreath ran for 93 yards and a touchdown on nine carries as Clarksville improved to 5-0 (1-0 Region 7-6A). Ben Moore caught a pair of touchdown passes and Jack Wyatt and Jamarcus Watkins both had long touchdown runs. Ryan Carver scored the lone touchdown for West Creek (1-4, 1-2).

CPA 41, BGA 7: Braden Streeter was 6-of-8 passing for 152 yards and four touchdowns to lead CPA (4-1) Thursday. Josh Mayernick added 67 yards and a touchdown on five carries and Leroy Harris III had two catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. Kaedyn Marable was 10-of-17 passing for 112 yards and a touchdown for BGA (2-3).

Columbia 31, Lawrence County 0: Kayden McCoy led Columbia (3-2) with 14 carries for 268 yards and three touchdowns in their win. Cason Tice was 8-of-15 passing for 72 yards and Justis Haggard had six catches for 64 yards. Jordan Trammell was 7-of-16 passing for 54 yards for Lawrence County (2-3).

Columbia Academy 42, DCA 30: Montae Baldwin had 25 carries for 310 yards and three touchdowns for Columbia Academy (2-3). Connor Rosson was 6-of-13 passing for 40 yards and had two carries for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Mitchell Carey was 27-of-42 passing for 379 yards and three touchdowns for DCA (3-2).

Davidson Academy 50, St. George's 7: Knox Roberts was 11-of-12 passing for 229 yards and three TDs for the Bears (5-0). Teammate TJ Peaks had five catches for 124 yards and two TDs. And Caden Stroud had 73 yards on 10 carries and had three TDs.

Eagleville 35, Huntland 0: Will Becker was 13-of-21 passing for 213 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another touchdown to lead Eagleville (3-2). Noah Lilly had six catches for 109 yards and a touchdown and Brody McLemore had 12 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown.

FRA 55, Northwest 7: Ty Clark III had seven carries for 89 yards and three touchdowns to lead FRA (5-0). Logan Kinnard was 5-of-6 passing for 95 yards and two touchdowns and Boyd Brown caught three passes for 65 yards and two touchdowns for the Panthers.

Grace Christian 36, Clarksville Academy 0: Kyle Davidson was 6-of-12 passing for 128 yards and a touchdown and had eight carries for 126 yards and three touchdowns for Grace Christian (2-2). Brock Woodard had nine carries for 83 yards and a touchdown and Tucker Wolf caught thrtee passes for 81 yards and a touchdown.

Green Hill 31, Lebanon 21: Kannon Burroughs was 11-of-20 passing for 123 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions and had 12 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown for Green Hill (5-0). Aaron Mattingly caught seven passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns and Niko Duffie had 12 carries for 46 yards.

Lipscomb Academy 24, Ensworth 10: Tav Shaffer was 12-of-25 passing for 138 yards and two touchdowns in Lipscomb Academy’s (2-3) win. Micah Burton added 110 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries and Kofi Boggs had two catches for 84 yards and a touchdown. Max Holtzclaw was 23-of-41 passing for 185 yards for Ensworth.

Loretto 24, Lewis County 21: Mason Tidwell was 11-of-19 passing for 169 yards and a touchdown for Loretto (5-0). Nicholas McDowell had 11 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns and Jack Welch and Clint Seymore each had three catches for 62 yards for the Mustangs.

Marshall County 53, White House 14: Silas Teat was 11-of-18 passing for 217 yards and four touchdowns for Marshall County (4-1). Hamani Ewing returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown and Jamaal Gentry had a 74-yards kickoff return for a touchdown for the Tigers.

McCallie 29, Brentwood Academy 15: George MacIntyre went 25-for-37 for 252 yards, but was picked off three times as Brentwood Academy (1-4) lost its Division II-AAA East Region opener. Shavar Young caught eight passes for 108 yards and T.T. Hill had over 100 all-purpose yards and a rushing touchdown.

MBA 24, Father Ryan 20: Brooklen Davis scored on a 30-yard run with 5:40 left in the fourth quarter to give MBA (1-4) the win over Father Ryan (3-1). Davis finished with 25 carries for 159 yards and three touchdowns and Hugh Price was 7-of-17 passing for 101 yards for the Big Red. Jojo Crump was 13-of-18 passing for 196 yards and a touchdown and had 19 carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns for Father Ryan.

MTCS 56, The Webb School 6: Eli Wilson had eight carries for 228 yards and three touchdowns and added a 72-yard kickoff return for the third-ranked Cougars (5-0), who will play at home on Friday against fellow unbeaten and No. 1-ranked Friendship Christian.

Mt. Juliet 38, Cookeville 14: Harrison Edwards ran for 149 yards and four TDs on 13 carries to pace the Bears (5-0, 3-0 4-6A). Teammate Jon Mikael Crudup added 130 yards on 18 carries. QB Tyler Travers was 14-of-17 passing for 164 yards and a TD pass to Easton Spurlock, who had seven catches for 94 yards. William Czernick recorded three sacks for the Bears' defense against Cookeville (2-3, 0-2).

Mt. Pleasant 46, Summertown 0: Nick Brown was 6-of-12 passing for 99 yards and a touchdown and had four carries for 26 yards and a touchdown for Mt. Pleasant (5-0). Kayden Davis added 37 yards and a touchdown on one reception. Logan Love had 16 carries for 75 yards for Summertown (0-5).

Nashville Christian 55, Mt. Juliet Christian 0: Bryson Holt was 9-of-12 passing for 192 yards and three touchdowns and had three carries for 39 yards and a touchdown for Nashville Christian (1-4). Michael Hoskins had 12 carries for 84 yards and two touchdowns and Ryan Demonbreun caught four passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles.

Nolensville 34, Franklin 23: Ty Collins threw for 293 yards and three TDs to lead the undefeated Knights (5-0) from a three-point halftime deficit to the non-region win over the Admirals (0-5). Nolensville finished with 522 total yards to Franklin's 227. Landon Smotherman had seven catches for 78 yards. Oliver Bender had six catches for 76 yards and a TD and Joseph Carano added four catches for 73 yards and a TD.

And Zion Tamaska rushed for 163 yards and two TDs on 25 carries along with 66 receiving yards and a receiving TD.

Oakland 42, Blackman 7: Patrick Freeman was 11-of-14 passing for 159 yards and Ashton Jones had 16 carries for 89 yards and two touchdowns in Oakland’s (4-1) win. Daune Morris had 11 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns and Craig Tutt added 50 yards and a touchdown on seven carries for the Patriots. Carter Gregory was 12-of-25 passing for 88 yards and a touchdown for Blackman (1-4).

Page 28, Coffee Co. 0: Jonathan Palmer was 19-of-34 passing for 219 yards with two TDs and an interception in the non-region win for the Patriots (4-1). Calvin Kotarba had five catches for 94 yards and a TD. Ethan Cunningham added 56 yards on 11 carries for Page.

Pearl-Cohn 61, Montgomery Central 0: Zeion Simpson rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown and Damien Hunter ran twice for 71 yards and a touchdown for the Firebirds (5-0, 2-0 Region 5-4A). Montgomery Central (0-5, 0-3) is still searching for its first victory.

Riverdale 41, Rockvale 6: Braden Graham was 13 of 14 for 301 yards and four touchdowns as the Warriors (3-2, 1-0 Region 3-6A) built a 41-0 lead by halftime. Brock Montgomery had five receptions for 151 yards and two TDs while Michigan State commitment Jaylen Thompson had an interception return for a touchdown.

Rossview 40, Northeast 0: DeAntwan Young Jr. gained 169 yards on 25 carries and scored a touchdown as Rossvies (3-2, 1-0 Region 7-6A) won its third straight game. Reed Bryant added 144 yards through the air and threw touchdown passes to Collin Michael, JT Sims and Jayden Westmoreland.

Stratford 42, Sycamore 14: Justyce Law was 9-of-20 passing for 266 yards and four touchdowns and had five carries for 20 yards to lead Stratford (2-3). Marqui Mitchell had five catches for 207 yards and Jaxyn Law had two catches for 31 yards.

Stewarts Creek 28, Cane Ridge 13: Kenny Jordan rushed for two touchdowns (90, 25) and Gerrell Watson had a 45-yard interception return for the Red Hawks (4-1, 1-0 Region 5-6A). Cane Ridge fell to 0-5 (0-2).

Wayne County 37, McEwen 14: Ryder Butler had 16 carries for 123 yards and three touchdowns and had one catches for 5 yards for Wayne County (2-3). Will Robertson added 54 yards and two touchdowns on six carries and Jakob Nienast had eight carries for 51 yards.

York 74, Tellico Plains 0: Miles Leffew had six carries for 138 yards and three touchdowns and was 3-of-5 passing for 83 yards and a touchdown for York (4-0). Riylin Miller added 86 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries and had one catch for 14 yards.
