Boys basketball roundup: Paynesville Bulldogs cruise past BBE, 79-30

Dec. 15—PAYNESVILLE — The Paynesville boys basketball helped complete a successful evening Friday at the Paynesville High School gym by beating Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 79-30.

The girls earlier beat BBE 59-48 in the boys' and girls' doubleheader.

Paynesville (4-1) cruised past the Jaguars by grabbing an easy 46-15 halftime lead.

BBE played without senior forward Luke Dingmann and junior forward Luke Illies.

Paynesville travels to Dassel-Cokato at 7 p.m. Tuesday. BBE goes to Glenwood to face Minnewaska at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Devin AShling pumped in 20 points to lead four Montevideo Thunder Hawks in double figures in their win over Yellow Medicine East at Granite Falls

Griffin Epema had 17 points, four assists and three steals, Gannon Reidinger added 12 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots and Cooper Dack contribued 10 points and four assists for Montevideo.

Jacob Peterson's 10 points led YME.

Montevideo travels to New London-Spicer at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. YME goes to Renville County West at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Lanadreon Goodwin nearly had a double-double in Benson's win over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at Benson

Goodwin, a 6-foot-5 freshman forward, finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Harold Habben added 18 points and seven rebounds. Landon Skarsten (12) and Tayte Antolick (10) also finished in double figures for the Braves.

The Thunder's David Liebsch scored a game-high 34 points.

Benson faces Maple Lake at noon Saturday. LPGE takes on Renville County West at 2 p.m. Saturday in Benson.

Lac qui Parle Valley built a 54-23 lead on the way to beating Maple Lake at Benson High School.

The Eagles head to Dawson-Boyd at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Maple Lake takes on Benson at noon Saturday in Benson.

Cambridge Christian came back from a 29-28 halftime deificit to defeat Community Christian School in a Christian Athletic League contest at Willmar.

Pablo Peñalba shot 8 of 11 form the field for an Eagles-best 16 points. He also had eight rebounds and six sterals. Andrew Borstad, Brady Reinertson and David Mulder each tallied seven points.

CCS takes on the North Metro Blazers at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Free Lutheran Bible College in Plymouth.
