Boys basketball roundup: Grady Eklund leads Pewamo-Westphalia past Fowler

FOWLER — Grady Eklund led all scorers with 24 points to lead the Division 3 No. 10-ranked Pirates to a CMAC road win over Fowler. Kash Pohl and Trevor Smith each tacked on 13 points and Trent Piggott picked up nine points for Pewamo-Westphalia (14-2, 11-2). Jacob Halfmann scored a team-high 17 points and Aaron Simon and Alex Halfmann each chipped in 16 points for the Eagles (11-7, 10-4).

OKEMOS 54, DEWITT 38

OKEMOS — Colin Walton led the Wolves with a game-high 17 points and grabbed six rebounds in their CAAC Blue win over DeWitt. Brennan Walton notched 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Okemos (15-2, 7-1). Adam Flannery finished with a team-high 13 points for the Panthers (11-6, 3-5). GRAND LEDGE ― Donye Thomas finished with 24 points and three steals while helping the Rams end a five-game losing streak with a CAAC Blue win over rival Grand Ledge (8-9, 1-7). EAST LANSING ― The Division 1 No. 3-ranked Trojans gained some separation with a late second half run while remaining unbeaten in the CAAC Blue. KJ Torbert had a game-high 27 points and Cam Hutson finished with 17 points for East Lansing (15-2, 7-0).

WILLIAMSTON 50, CHARLOTTE 35

CHARLOTTE ― Behind a 17-0 run to open the game, the Hornets picked up a nonleague victory over Charlotte. Ben Smith was the lone player in double figures for Williamston (8-10) with 18 points. Cutler Brandt led Charlotte (13-4) with 14 points.

EATON RAPIDS 54, FOWLERVILLE 35

EATON RAPIDS ― Nicholas White had 15 and Braylon Nobach had 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Greyhounds in their nonleague win. Brendan Ray paced Fowlerville with 14 points.

LAINGSBURG — Zander Woodruff led all scorers with 29 points to lead the Division 3 No. 2-ranked Wolfpack to a CMAC victory over Perry. Mitchell George picked up 15 points and Ty Randall added 14 points for Laingsburg (16-0, 13-0). Joey McGraw-Allen scored a team-high 22 points and Tristan Krupp chipped in 12 points for the Ramblers (10-6, 7-6). JV score: Laingsburg 58, Perry 56

BATH ― Ethan Wicks led three players in double figures for the Bees with 17 points in their CMAC win over Lansing Christian. Jake Kuhn had 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds and Cole Chamberlain added 10 points for Bath. Ethan Damesworth had 17 points and David Hall had 12 points to pace Lansing Christian.

Seth Hahnenberg tallied 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Cougars in a nonleague home loss to Waverly (13-4). Drew Tolfree scored 12 points, Joe Guluck picked up eight points and hauled in 11 rebounds and Lucas Payne tacked on eight points for Lansing Catholic (4-12).

BYRON — Dominic Driver tallied a double-double with 38 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Spartans to a nonleague road victory over Byron (3-14). LAKE ODESSA — Logan Faulkner scored a team-high 18 points to propel the Lions to a nonleague home win over Maple Valley. Landon Makley finished with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds and Troy Acker chipped in 12 points and hauled in five rebounds for Lakewood (3-14). Jakeb McDonald tallied a team-high 18 points for the Lions (6-10).

IONIA — Henry Castle led all scorers with 23 points to lead the Bulldogs to a nonleague home victory over Eastern. Colt Piercefield chipped in 21 points for Ionia (8-9). Myles Edmond had a team-high 21 points and Marvin Bledsoe added on 18 points for the Quakers (7-10). JV score: Ionia d. Eastern

FREELAND ― The Panthers fell behind by double digits in the opening half and never recovered while suffering a TVC Red loss. Sam Gadde had nine points and Cade Sutherland scored eight points for Alma (10-7, 5-5).

MORRICE ― Logan Smith had 17 points and Oliver Long scored 12 points for the Orioles (4-11, 2-2) in a GAC Blue loss.
