Here are the boys basketball results from around Springfield for Nov. 24-25

Here's how high school boys basketball teams from around Springfield fared in Thanksgiving tournaments over the weekend:

AT DECATUR

Jaylene Simmons recorded a double-double with 22 points and 19 rebounds and Southeast defeated Decatur Eisenhower 48-44 in the consolation title game at the Decatur Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday.

Southeast finished the tournament with a 2-1 record, with its loss coming to Decatur MacArthur 54-36 on Wednesday.

The Spartans rebounded on Friday when Reggie Rice scored seven of his team-high 15 points in the fourth quarter and rallied Southeast in the second half to a 50-48 victory over Sacred Heart-Griffin in the consolation semifinals.

Southeast trailed 29-20 at intermission before outscoring SHG 30-19 in the second half. Josiah Turner made a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter and scored five of his six points in the period for the Spartans. Rakim Higgerson ended with 10 points, Carlos Day chipped in eight and Simmons tallied seven.

SHG (0-2) went into the final quarter with a slim 37-36 lead. The Cyclones went just 1-for-8 from the floor and made 6 of 10 free throws to get outscored 16-8 in the third period.

Jamarion Bardwell scored 12 of his game-high 18 points in the first half to lead SHG. He had six points in the fourth quarter and finished 8-for-19 from the field. Cameron Brinkman had seven points for the Cyclones.

MacArthur (2-1) had a 50-48 lead at the end of three quarters but fell to Bolingbrook 68-59 in the championship game on Saturday. Bolingbrook improved to 3-0.

Here are the boys high school basketball results from around Springfield for Nov. 20-22

AT NEW BERLIN

Gannon Dodd registered a game-high 23 points and New Berlin won the Gene Bergschneider Turkey Tournament with a 51-43 victory over Jacksonville Routt in the championship game on Saturday.

Dodd had 16 points by the break for a 28-12 halftime lead.

Griffin Fuchs and Tanner Frye provided 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Pretzels (4-0) nicked North Mac 39-34 on Friday to reach the title game.

Nolan Turner led Routt (2-2) with 15 points while Bryson Mossman had 12. The Rockets also fell to South County 54-49 on Friday.

Both Macon Meridian (third place) and South County (fifth place) went 3-1 in the tournament.

The Vipers defeated North Mac 48-41 in the fifth-place game on Saturday. Trevor Colwell chalked up a game-high 19 points for South County. Noah Lyons had 16. JT Alexander led the Panthers (1-3) with 14 points.

No. 9 by design: Rochester football captures ninth state title with win over St. Laurence

Lutheran won the seventh-place game 67-63 over Raymond Lincolnwood to end the tournament 2-2.

AT LINCOLN

Lincoln outscored Danville 40-17 in the second half and went on to defeat Danville 61-38 at the Lincoln/Eaton round-robin tournament at Roy S. Anderson Gym on Saturday.

Lincoln made 16 of 27 (59.3 percent) shots in the second half after the game went into halftime tied 21-21. Gabe Smith and Frank Sanders led the Railsplitters with nine points each. Drew Hayes Ki’on Carson added eight points apiece for Lincoln, which concluded the tournament at 2-2.

Also on Saturday, Jackson Bohm scored 21 points and Mahomet-Seymour defeated Cahokia 72-55. Both teams came into the matchup with 0-3 records.

Mount Zion finished the tournament with a 4-0 record, beating Champaign Centennial 59-32 in the final game.

Lyncoln Koester had 13 points and Owen Owens had 12 for Mount Zion. Centennial finished the tournament with a 3-1 mark after beating Belleville West 59-51 in overtime on Friday.

Wilmington's defense clamps down on Athens' football state title hopes

Belleville West (3-1) avenged Friday’s loss with an 80-63 win over Belleville Althoff on Saturday. Myles Liddell led four Belleville West players in double figures with 21 points. Dierre Hill Jr. provided Althoff (2-2) with six 3-pointers and a game-high 31 points on 12 of 21 shooting.

Lincoln lost a close game on Friday when Belleville Althoff scored with 3 seconds left in the fourth quarter to produce a 37-35 victory.

Despite shooting 29.2 percent (14-for-48) from the floor, Althoff was able to eke out the win. The Crusaders finished 7-for-22 from 3-point range, including 4-for-7 in the second half. Hill had three 3s and led all scorers with 13 points. Earl Liverpool had a couple of treys and added 10.

Hayes led Lincoln with 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting to go with six rebounds. The Railsplitters finished 3-for-12 from beyond the arc and Aidan Gowin made all three for Lincoln and scored 11 points.

AT JACKSONVILLE

O’Fallon outscored Jacksonville 23-9 in the third period and opened up a big lead to record an 85-65 victory in the Crimson Classic at The Bowl on Saturday.

Jacksonville rallied from an 11-point deficit after one period and got within 38-36 at intermission against O’Fallon. Amaree Burries made three 3-pointers and scored 26 points, while teammate Isaiah Martinez finished with 13 in the loss.

O’Fallon made 13 3s and put four players in double figures.

Seniors fulfill promise: Rochester wins first football title since 2019

Combined with wins over Marion (60-37) and Chicago Brooks (82-36), O’Fallon finished the round-robin tournament with a 3-0 record. With a 69-38 win, Marion defeated Brooks to finish 2-1. Jacksonville ended 1-2 and Brooks went 0-3.

In Jacksonville’s first game on Saturday, Burries netted 17 of Jacksonville’s 19 fourth-quarter points to lead the Crimsons to a 58-52 victory over Brooks.

The game was tied at 39 apiece heading into the final quarter before Jacksonville outscored Brooks 19-13. Burries ended with 27 points and had 21 after halftime. Martinez buried four 3-pointers and added 17 points. Martinez and Masen Johnson (11 points) both had a big first half for Jacksonville with each player hitting three 3s apiece.

On Friday, Kaden Rogowski made a layup as time expired in overtime and Marion defeated Jacksonville 67-66.

Marion outscored Jacksonville 8-7 in the extra period after the game was tied 59-59 at the end of regulation.

Martinez and Burries combined for 53 points in the loss. Martinez buried six 3-pointers and went 5-for-6 from the foul line for a team-high 27. Burries made 10 field goals, was 5-for-6 on free throws and added 26.

Rogowski led Marion with 22 points and teammate Phoenix Hatchett came on late with 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter and overtime periods.

AT QUINCY

Keshaun Thomas and Camden Brown combined for 38 points in host Quincy’s 64-51 victory over Lanphier on the final day of the Thanksgiving tournament.

Thomas led the tournament champion Blue Devils (3-0) with 22 points while Brown, the tournament MVP, contributed 16 points.

Lanphier (1-3) finished the tournament 1-2. Shaunassey Hatchett Jr. was named to the all-tournament team.

Chicago Wendell Phillips defeated Lanphier 84-70 on the second day of round-robin play. Lanphier defeated Tinley Park 78-62 on Thursday.

Quincy topped Wendell Phillips 69-58 on Thursday and Tinley Park 69-29 on Friday.

AT BEARDSTOWN

Winchester West Central jumped out to a 13-point halftime lead and cruised to a 52-39 win over Beardstown to claim the championship at the Beardstown Tournament on Saturday.

Tournament MVP Zack Evans made a pair of 3-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points as West Central improved to 4-0. Isaac Brockschmidt hit three 3s and had 18 points for Beardstown.

AT PITTSFIELD

Petersburg PORTA defeated Barry Western 60-32 on Friday and finished the tournament with a 3-1 record at the Saukee Turkey Tournament.

Griffin McClure scored all of his team-high 11 points in the first half as PORTA led 32-16 at halftime. Ethan Mahoney added 10 points on five baskets and Keagan Dale drained three 3-pointers in the second half and chipped in nine for the Bluejays.

Pittsfield, which defeated PORTA 38-24 on Wednesday, won a pair of games on Friday and captured the tournament title by beating Barry Western 68-47 and Payson Seymour 71-40.

Brennan Tomhave and Javan Petty combined for five 3s and scored 26 points against Seymour. Tomhave made three treys and led the team with 14 points, while Petty hit two 3s and added 12.

AT MOUNT PULASKI

Clinton used a big second quarter to lead by nine at halftime and went on to defeat Auburn 61-42 in the championship game at the Mount Pulaski Tournament.

Clinton erased a five-point deficit after one period and then outscored Auburn 19-5 in the second quarter.

In the third-place game, Delavan overcame a four-point halftime deficit and defeated Litchfield 44-41.

Litchfield got to the third-place game after defeating Buffalo Tri-City 89-49 on Friday. Victor McGill poured in a game-best 36 points in that victory. He made 14 field goals, went 7-for-7 from the free throw line and had 22 points in the second half. Keenan Powell scored 12 first-half points and finished with 15. AJ Odle and Tate Dobrinich tallied 11 points each for the Purple Panthers.

In other games on Saturday, Mason City Illini Central beat Mount Pulaski 52-40 and Edinburg downed Tri-City 66-53.

AT ALTON

Chatham Glenwood finished the Redbird Tip-Off tournament in second place with a 3-1 mark following a 49-25 loss to host Alton in the championship game on Saturday.

Glenwood trailed 13-1 by the end of the first quarter and 25-9 at halftime.

Mason Marshall and Cameron Appenzeller were both named to the all-tournament team for Glenwood. Alton’s Semaj Stampley was named the tournament MVP.

AT CARLYLE

Hillsboro opened the Kaskaskian Classic with a 61-44 loss to Carlyle on Saturday.

Nathan Matoush sank four 3-pointers, went 5-for-5 from the line and led all scorers with 25 points in Hillsboro’s loss.

REGULAR SEASON GAME

ALTAMONT 46, NOKOMIS 27: At Altamont, Nokomis finished with 20 turnovers and shot 9-for-33 (27.3 percent) from the floor on Friday to drop to 0-2 on the season.

Kennedy DeWerff made two 3-pointers and led Nokomis with 12 points. Reece Lohman scored nine in the loss.
