Boys basketball: North Jersey Top 25 rankings as county tournaments near

Don Bosco maintains the No. 1 spot in the North Jersey boys’ basketball Top 25 rankings after winning both its games last week.

The Ironmen (12-3) have won eight of their last nine games following last week’s 78-62 victory over Teaneck and 62-45 win over Paul VI.

Bergen Catholic (11-5) is No. 2, Ramapo is No. 3 (10-6), St. Joseph (8-4) is No. 4, and Ridgewood (13-2) is No. 5, based on results reported through Sunday.

Pascack Valley (8-7) has catapulted back into the Top 25 on the strength of a six-game winning streak and sits at No. 19.

Chris Gaskin, in his 22nd season guiding Ridgefield Park, is the latest coach to reach a milestone, securing his 300th career win with Wednesday’s 49-33 victory over Ferris. Earlier this season, Eddie Rendzio, leading Waldwick after a long stint at Wood-Ridge, broke 400, while Becton’s Dan Balaban hit 100.

Here are the North Jersey Top 25 rankings, as well as standings for the Big North Conference and North Jersey Interscholastic Conference, based on games reported through Jan. 21.
