Boys basketball district final roundup: Laingsburg, P-W claim Division 3 titles

LAINGSBURG 57, STOCKBRIDGE 46

LAINGSBURG ― Ty Randall led the Division 3 top-ranked Wolfpack with a game-high 21 points in their district title game victory over Stockbridge. Mitchell George finished with 15 points and Zander Woodruff tacked on 11 for Laingsburg. Shannon Henderson notched a team-high 20 points for the Panthers (17-7). The Wolfpack (24-0) will move on to the regional semifinal to face Chesaning (24-0) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jackson Lumen Christi.

PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 59, MAPLE VALLEY 42

POTTERVILLE ― Dominic Weber finished with a team-high 11 points to help lead the Pirates to a district title with a victory over Maple Valley. Trevor Spitzley, Kash Pohl and Trent Piggott each notched nine points and Reece Thelen chipped in seven points for Pewamo-Westphalia. Teegan McDonald led all scorers with 16 points and Ayden Wilkes tacked on 14 points for the Lions (10-14). The Pirates (22-2) will face North Muskegon (24-0) in the regional semifinal at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Pewamo-Westphalia.

FOWLER 56, PORTLAND ST. PATRICK 44

BELLEVUE ― Jacob Halfmann notched a team-high 23 points as the Eagles picked up a Division 4 district title with a victory over Portland St. Patrick (12-12). Alex Halfmann tallied 12 points and Asher Koenigsknecht chipped in 11 points for Fowler. The Eagles (17-7) will head to the regional semfinals to face Wyoming Tri-unity Christian (19-5) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Fowler.

WAVERLY 45, DEWITT 42

GRAND LEDGE ― The Warriors held off a late attempt by DeWitt to capture a Division 1 district title. Duente Phifer had 16 points and Derek Thomas II added 10 points to lead Waverly. The victory sends Waverly to next week's regional semifinal at Kalamazoo Central where it will face East Lansing. Adam Flannery finished with 12 points for DeWitt.

CHARLOTTE 61, SEXTON 49

CHARLOTTE ― The Orioles avenged a pair of regular season losses to CAAC White champion Sexton on Friday to capture a second straight Division 2 district title. The win sends Charlotte to next week's regional where it will face Chelsea.

BRIGHTON LIVINGSTON CHRISTIAN 79, WEBBERVILLE 51

WEBBERVILLE ― After going on a 10-0 run to take a 42-38 lead with 4:45 to play in the third quarter, Webberville was outscored 41-9 the rest of the game while falling in a Division 4 district final. Freshman Dominic Driver led the Spartans with 17 points.

“I think we just got tired,” said Webberville coach Tony Rhodes, whose team has seven sophomores and one freshman. “We’re a young team. They just had a little more strength than us, a little more maturity.”
