Boys basketball: There are 16 candidates for Varsity 845 player of the week
Online voting for the Varsity 845 boys basketball player of the week for January 22-28 is now open. Go to RecordOnline.com/sports and vote as often as you like until 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 3 (no computer bot voting, please).
Nominations are pulled from reports to Varsity 845 and other sources. Players from Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties are eligible. One player per school is permitted during each week.
With 16 candidates this week, we decided to split the vote into large and small schools.
The winner will be announced via X / Twitter @Varsity845. Previous winners can become eligible again once the postseason has begun. Isaiah Boucher of Port Jervis, Trai Kaufmann of Eldred and C.K. Pearson of Monroe-Woodbury, Christopher DeNatale of Marlboro were the first four winners.

Jack Demetriow, Cornwall
He scored 23 points to lift the Dragons past Goshen 63-50 on Jan. 22.
Miles McKenney, Wallkill
He scored 19 points in the Panthers’ 74-70 setback to New Paltz on Jan. 26.
Robert Lawrence, Pine Bush
He scored 20 points in the Bushmen’s 82-56 loss to Newburgh on Jan. 24.
Jankarlos Mendoza, Monroe-Woodbury
He scored 20 points to lead the Crusaders past Warwick 50-43 on Jan. 22.
Jaedyn Rodriguez, Warwick
He scored 18 points to help the Wildcats top Port Hervis 54-46 on Jan. 24.
Seamus Smith, Goshen
He scored 17 points in the Gladiators’ 51-42 loss to Valley Central on Jan. 27. He also had 18 points in a 61-57 setback to Port Jervis on Jan. 26.
Aidan Sullivan, Washingtonville
He scored 17 points in the Wizards’ 54-51 loss to Monroe-Woodbury on Jan. 26. He scored nine in a 71-53 win over Minisink Valley on Jan. 22.

He scored 19 points in the Yellowjackets’ 49-37 setback to Livingston Manor on Jan. 25. He also had 11 points in a 52-36 setback to Tri-Valley on Jan. 24.
Dennis Hofer, Mount Academy
He posted 20 points and three blocks as the Mount beat Rhinebeck 55-47 on Jan. 26.
Andre Jenkins, Chester
He posted 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Hambletonians topped Tri-Valley 53-47 on Jan. 26.
Aiden Johnson, Livingston Manor
He scored 20 points, hitting all eight of his foul shots, to lift Manor past Eldred 49-37 on Jan. 25.
Misha Khodakovski, Tri-Valley
He netted 23 points to lead the Bears pat Eldred 52-36 on Jan. 24.
Jason Kinscy, Ellenville
He scored 30 points to lift Ellenville past Spackenkill 62-61 in overtime on Jan. 26.
Jack Maiale, New Paltz
He scored 30 points as the Huguenots topped Wallkill 74-70 on Jan. 26.
Jonah McDuffie, Chapel Field
He scored 22 points in Chapel Field’s 55-50 win over Seward on Jan. 24.
